Not Seeing Results?

Fat Loss 101 to help keep you motivated and informed.

  1. Effects of exercise / nutrition changes occur in this order: * Health and wellness improvements * Fitness improvements both general and specific * Positive body composition changes (weight / fat loss) Don't expect to look lean and mean overnight. Often the results we want the most are the last ones to come. While your waiting for your waistline to return, remember that there are other positive changes occurring.

  2. You will lose / gain fat from the inside/out. Depending on how much fat you have to lose, you may very well be losing body fat, but many not "see" it yet. The unhealthiest fat is deep inside surrounding organs, so good things are going on in there.

  3. You will have bad moments, bad days, bad weeks even. As long as you understand this is a journey will many potholes and steep hills. But if you just stay on track you will reach your destination. You can't really predict when, as long as you BELIEVE you will get there. Most give up when they have set backs. Success comes from picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and moving along with more determination and drive.

  4. Adding activity will help you towards your goal. If you are frustrated with your progress thus far, ask yourself where you have been falling short. Not giving enough to your workouts, skipping meals, complaining about new exercises, avoiding the ones you hate because they are hard, watching TV or on the computer rather than going for a walk at night... ALL THIS COUNTS. Little changes go a long way.

  5. Positive thinking is everything. You have to believe in yourself, in your abilities, in your plan, in your future and stay focused on the goal. If this was easy, everyone would look amazing and live long healthy happy lives. Many aspire, some act, few achieve. Become one of the few.

  6. Be patient. You didn't get overfat, and underfit in a few weeks. So, you can't expect yoru body to do a complete 360 in days, weeks or even months. Depending on how much you have neglected your body and for how long, it may take years to make the transformation. But, in the course of your lifetimes what's a year or two? You will be adding years, even decades, to your life by making these changes. It's worth it. Give it time!
